VX-150 to Speaker / Microphone or
Signalink USB Configuration

A local fellow Amateur Radio Operator has a Signalink USB configured for a FT-857D; which he then made a Custom Interface to connect the Signalink to a VX-150 Handheld. The Custom Interface Configuration is shown below.

If the desire is to use the Handheld Speaker / Microphone's Microphone to talk, or the Custom Interface; but, also to always hear from the Handheld Speaker / Microphone's Speaker - here is one (possible) Circuit example.

J2 inside the Signalink USB may have to be jumpered for increased Audio into the Signalink USB.

If the desire is to use the Handheld Speaker / Microphone, or the Custom Interface; but, also to hear, in the Handheld Speaker / Microphone's Speaker, from the Signalink USB's AUX Output when S1 is set to INTERFACE; or, to hear from the Handheld Speaker's Output when S1 is set to SPKR / MIC.

But wait!, there is more!
What if the Handheld Speaker / Microphone itself included the Push To Talk Resistor?; which I am assuming in the next three (3) Drawings shown below [otherwise, add the Resistor].

Assumed original Handheld Speaker / Microphone and Schematic.

One Option is to add a Toggle Switch and Phone Jack; space permitting.

In this Configuration - Switch S1 would have to be toggled to 'SPKR / MIC' for normal Handheld use or to 'SIGNALINK' for Signalink USB use.

Another Option is to add a shorting style Phone Jack to the Handheld Speaker / Microphone, and a SMD Tantalum Capacitor inside P1; space permitting.

In this Configuration - the Signalink Jumper Plug, P1, would have to be removed for normal Handheld Speaker / Mike use. When Plug P1 is inserted - the Handheld Speaker / Microphone's Speaker and Microphone are disabled.

A Final Option is to add a shorting style Phone Jack to the Handheld Speaker / Microphone, and a Capacitor added to the JP1 Jumper; space permitting.

In this Configuration - the Signalink Jumper Plug, P1, would have to be removed for normal Handheld Speaker / Mike use. When Plug P1 is inserted - the Handheld Speaker / Microphone's Speaker and Microphone are disabled.
